Clima three

design unit 2019 with professor: Nicola Russi, Andrea Levra Levron

The project is located in the Aurora Neighborhood in the north of Turin and it extends on both sides of the Dora River. During the analysis of the area, attention was paid to several big abandoned buildings, which held a real potential for the project.

The Nuvola Lavazza block, a reconvertion of part of a former power plant made by architect Cino Zucchi, was identified as a significative example for the remployment of industrial voids. The dimension of these blocks is coexistent with massive road axes, which are oversized in comparison to the services present in the area. These roads are not frequently employed by the public especially due to the abandoned infrastructures.

The project area was limited to Corso Brescia – between Via Bologna and Corso Regio Parco – which connects two of the blocks identified in the analysis. Corso Brescia borders many spaces obtained throught the interception of the ortogonal and diagonal axes.

The focus of the project was to reuse these spaces by implementing three climate device we projected: the Canopy, the porticato and the Green House; in order to solve the current climate issues that hit the city of Turin.
